Conservation of the earth's most precious resource - water; is one of the biggest challenges Qatar is facing today. With no natural sources of fresh water, our average consumption of water is in excess of 450 liters per person per day, probably amongst the highest in the world.

TARSHEED – The Government's Proactive Response

Under the Patronage of HH The Emir of the State of Qatar, The National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency, or TARSHEED, was set up in 2012
Over a 5-year period, TARSHEED is targeting a 35% reduction in per capita consumption of water
Within the first three years, it has successfully achieved a reduction of 11%
